San Francisco DA Charges Brownsville Man With Attempted Murder Following Series of Violent AttacksSource: Google Street View

San Francisco District Attorney Brooke Jenkins has announced charges against Anthony Carl Sheldone, a 42-year-old man from Brownsville, in connection with a string of violent attacks that occurred on the morning of September 1. As reported by the San Francisco District Attorney's Office, Sheldone is facing multiple felony counts, including attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon.

On the day of the alleged attacks, pedestrians were targeted without apparent provocation, starting around 7:18 AM on Haight Street. According to authorities, one victim was run over while walking their dog, and soon after, an oncoming vehicle was struck head-on. The violent spree continued with a physical assault at a bus stop and the injuring of two individuals at a street intersection. Among the reported incidents, a man was stabbed after an altercation where his wife was told to disrobe by Sheldone. The attacks extended to first responders, with San Francisco firefighters and police officers being assaulted later that morning. The suspect was apprehended in the Castro district after climbing and leaping off a tree.

"I am grateful that no one lost their life in this horrific series of violent incidents that transpired last weekend," DA Jenkins said,  as per the San Francisco District Attorney's Office. Sheldone is currently detained, with the prosecution arguing the necessity due to the considerable threat to public safety he allegedly presents. He is scheduled for arraignment today at the Hall of Justice.

This case remains under active investigation, and the district attorney's office continues to solicit information from the community. Anyone with potentially relevant information regarding these incidents is encouraged to contact the SFPD at 415-575-4444 or to text a tip to TIP411 with the message starting with SFPD.
