San José is hosting its third Viva CalleSJ event of the year this Sunday, September 8, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The "Parks to Roses" route will transform several city streets into a car-free playground, guiding participants through landmarks like the Municipal Rose Garden, The Alameda, and Japantown. This free event encourages residents to explore the city on foot or by bike in a relaxed, community-focused setting, according to the City of San José.
Viva CalleSJ promises a day full of activities, performances, and sports, featuring BMX shows, professional wrestling, and local talent. Mayor Matt Mahan called it a vital part of building a more connected and vibrant San José. Local businesses will also participate, offering perks to attendees at designated "pit stops" along the route.
For convenience, there will be stations for water refills, first aid, and bike repairs. Key events include appearances by the San José Earthquakes at Roosevelt Park and DJs like DJ Cutso in Japantown. Viva CalleSJ continues to bring the community together for a day of fun and exploration in the heart of the city.
