In a collaboration described as meticulous, Santa Clara County officials have arrested a man on multiple charges, including the illegal manufacturing of firearms and explosive devices within the Burbank area. This comes after Deputy Colla, attached to the county's District Attorney’s Office Gun Violence Task Force, heavily invested time in building the case.
Following the assembly of evidence that led to probable cause, Deputy Colla was able to secure a search warrant for the residence of Christopher Roberts, 37, who is currently under a court order barring him from possessing firearms due to a domestic violence case. During the serving of this warrant yesterday, according to the Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office, Roberts, allegedly involved in the unlawful activities, was apprehended.
The Sheriff's Office Emergency Response team, with the support of the Campbell Police Department, carried out the operation. Marking a first in the department's history, they deployed the Skydio Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) during the raid. The technology played a pivotal role in overseeing the perimeter, ensuring the safety of the nearby residents and the officers executing the search warrant.
Authorities seized three firearms, including what was identified as an assault rifle, in addition to ammunition, fuses, cylinder tubes, and notable quantities of black powder. The Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office reported that Roberts faces multiple charges: "Possession of a Firearm in Violation of a Court Order, Possession of an Assault Rifle, Possession of a Destructive Device near Private Habitation, and Possession of Substance or Material to make a Destructive Device." He was booked into the Main Jail following the operation.
