The goats recently subject to a brazen theft in Santa Rosa have been safely returned to their home. Three goats named Nacho, Chili, and Atlas were reported stolen from their residence on Bellevue Avenue. The Sonoma Sheriff's Office shared the details of this unusual incident on their Facebook page and requested the public's help.

Nacho, a very large La Mancha wether goat, Chili, a smaller Kiko goat, and Atlas, a Kinder wether goat, were identified by their owner after a vigilant community member purchased the goats and contacted authorities, suspecting they were the subjects of theft. In a Facebook update, the Sonoma Sheriff's Office confirmed their return. It explained that the goats were bought from Agustin Alcazar-Varelas, who was later arrested for the crime.

Investigations revealed that the family bought the goats from Alcazar-Varelas, a 48-year-old resident of Santa Rosa. Alcazar-Varelas was found in his home on Moorland Avenue during a probation search and subsequently arrested, being charged with felony grand theft of animals, among other offenses. "Detectives are following up on leads for the female suspect who was captured on surveillance video," the Sonoma Sheriff's Office reported.

Anyone with further information about the theft is still encouraged to come forward. According to a Hoodline article, Detective Williams of the Sonoma Sheriff's Office can be reached at 707-565-1312 and remains the point of contact as the search for an additional suspect continues.
