Montgomery County homicide detectives have announced the arrest of 33-year-old Jeriel Demitri Martin in connection with the fatal shooting of Jamar Emmanuel Jenifer, who was 34 years old and a resident of Washington D.C. This incident took place in an alley on the 8000 block of 13th Street in Silver Spring, according to the Montgomery County Department of Police.
Investigations led to Martin being identified as the alleged perpetrator in the killing that occurred on September 2, 2024. An arrest warrant was subsequently issued, charging him with first-degree murder and the use of a firearm in the commission of a felony/violent crime.
Authorities executed a search and seizure warrant at the Martin's residence in Silver Spring on Friday. There, they arrested Martin and reported finding items of evidentiary value that connected him to the crime scene. The evidence gathered appears to have solidified the link between Martin and the homicide of Jamar Jenifer.
Following his arrest, Martin was transported to the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit, where he is being held without bond. The justice system is preparing for a trial that may clarify the motivations and circumstances surrounding this act of violence.
