Southern California is entering a period of fluctuating temperatures through the coming weekend, with coastal regions maintaining near-average conditions and inland areas experiencing a significant warm-up. According to the NWS San Diego, today will be "dry and warmer with high temperatures for inland areas around 4 to 8 degrees above average." Coastal low clouds will continue spreading into parts of the western valleys late each night, reducing visibility in some areas.

As the weak low pressure slowly asserts its effect on the region, locals can expect little to change on Tuesday. However, temperatures are projected to start decreasing gradually by Wednesday and Thursday. The usual marine layer presence has noticeably become shallow, which might cause areas of fog, especially across the Orange County coastal plain and into the western valleys of San Diego County. Despite these variations, the NWS forecasts that the coast and valleys should continue to experience highs from the lower to mid-70s while the inland valleys could see temperatures up to the 90s.

The latest update from the National Weather Service Forecast Office in San Diego examines the specific temperature expectations for the region's diverse landscapes. For the inland valleys, highs are projected in the 90s, the Apple and Lucerne Valleys are anticipating upper 80s to mid-90s, and the lower deserts can expect a scorching 102 to 108 degrees. Meanwhile, mountain regions at elevations from 4500 to 7000 feet should experience cooler conditions with temperatures ranging in the 70s to mid-80s.

Heading into the weekend, the area's weather narrative is less certain, with a weak low-pressure system being the wildcard. Its proximity to Southern California will likely determine whether the region will endure minor warming on Friday followed by cooling next weekend. "The deterministic NBM has slight cooling for Saturday and Sunday, but with increasing spread in the high temperature guidance," said the NWS San Diego report. While the maritime conditions are anticipated to remain non-threatening through Friday, the internal dynamics of the atmosphere continue to be monitored closely.
