
On a coordinated push against wanted individuals, the Springfield Police Department, alongside state and federal agencies, successfully apprehended two suspects from a house on Alderman Street. According to the Springfield Police Department, the operation led by the Springfield Police Firearms Investigation Unit (FIU) occurred on the afternoon of September 24, resulting in the arrests of Gianni Gamble, aged 22, and Luis Semprit, aged 27.
Details from the SPD reveal that Semprit was wanted on multiple counts, including Assault & Battery on a Person aged 60 or older/disabled, and Gamble was detained based on a Federal Arrest Warrant from Vermont, he was eventually handed over to the FBI after preliminary booking procedures. The SPD Special Victims Unit, under Captain Trent Duda and Sergeant Karen Simmons, was instrumental in obtaining warrants linked to Semprit's extensive list of charges.
These charges against Semprit include serious accusations such as Assault with a Dangerous Weapon Breaking and Entering into a Building Daytime for a Felony, Strangulation or Suffocation, and several counts of Violation of an Abuse Prevention Order. As reported by the Springfield Police Department, Semprit's criminal history not only includes previous drug and illegal firearms convictions but also features ongoing firearm charges pending in Hampden Superior Court, adding further complications to his current legal issues.
The elaborate arrest involved a collaboration of forces including the Massachusetts State Police CINRET, the Hampden District Attorney's Hampden County Narcotics Unit, ATF Task Force, Massachusetts State Police VFAS, Hampden County Sheriff's Department, and the U.S. Marshals Task Force. Both suspects were found together at a residence, where they were apprehended after the execution of a search warrant.
