As St. Louis Park's pavement project charges ahead, officials urged for community cooperation in maintaining safety around bustling construction zones. A recent update from the City outlines the latest on the 2024 Pavement Management initiative, covering completed phases and ongoing works slated for early September.
In details shared by Project Engineer Aaron Wiesen and Project Coordinator Tom Leonhardt, the city conveyed that Phase 1 is nearing its end save for the final touch on Vernon Avenue and the concluding checklist tasks. As for Phase 2, crews will busy themselves with distributing topsoil in disturbed areas during the weeks of September 2 and 9. Residents can anticipate the commencement of sod installation, scheduled to span several weeks ahead.
The third phase of construction maintains its momentum with concrete layers shaping curbs, driveways, and sidewalks — endeavors expected to occupy crews for a span of time. Concurrently, Phase 4 targets the replacement of water main on 39th Street, extending between Natchez Avenue and Lynn Avenue, and also along Natchez Avenue from 40th to 39th Streets. This vital infrastructure update will roll over into the week succeeding its initiation.
Both officials underscore the crucial role of safety during this extensive project. “Safety on a construction site is a shared responsibility," emphasized the project update. Residents are reminded to refrain from entering or playing around construction sites and to heed the presence of heavy machinery. Making eye contact with equipment operators and abiding by site rules are key practices for preventing accidents. These guidelines not only ensure personal well-being but also streamline the progress of the construction crews working to improve community infrastructure.
