A St. Petersburg community is dealing with tragedy following the arrest of a man accused of the murder of his girlfriend, whose body was discovered near a local dumpster. Daniel Coley, 41, was arrested and charged with second-degree murder in the death of 40-year-old Amanda Browning, WFLA reported.
According to authorities, Browning’s body was found with signs of trauma, including visible stab and cut wounds, early Saturday morning in the 3800 block of 15th Avenue North. The two had reportedly been living together in an apartment prior to the incident. The nature of the evidence collected at the scene led detectives to soon after arrest Coley, FOX 13 News detailed.
The discovery was made just after 8 a.m. by a passerby, setting off a chain of events that brought this case to the fore of local attention as the body was found close to the residential area. SPPD evidently worked quickly, gathering evidence linked to the tragic event, and by early Sunday, Coley was booked into the Pinellas County Jail.
A news release from the St. Petersburg Police further emphasized that the investigation uncovered sufficient probable cause to proceed with Coley’s arrest. WTSP mentioned the detectives' findings but did not disclose further details on what the exact evidence entailed.
