An early morning pursuit in Englewood escalated into an armed confrontation when a suspect allegedly fired shots at police officers from a stolen vehicle. According to the Colorado Community Media, the incident began around 4:21 a.m. when a white 2011 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck, reported as stolen, failed to heed officers' attempts to stop it near South Broadway and Bates Avenue.

The chase continued into a residential area, culminating in gunfire directed at law enforcement. "The vehicle continued through a neighborhood and as they turned onto West Dartmouth Avenue the suspect fired several shots at the pursuing officers," as obtained by Colorado Community Media. Despite the suspect turning on West Dartmouth Avenue and firing, officers maintained a safe distance. Having increased speed, the suspect managed to evade pursuit near South Zuni Street and West Bates Avenue, losing the officers.

The suspect reportedly opened fire a second time as officers trailed the truck past South Santa Fe Drive. "The officers continued the pursuit on West Dartmouth past South Santa Fe Drive when the person again fired shots at the officers," as per 9News. No injuries were reported among the police officers involved in the chase. It remained a fact the situation could have escalated into graver outcomes, given the brazen use of firearms by the suspect.

As of now, the whereabouts of the suspect are unknown. The pursuit and subsequent shooting were captured on video, indicating the gravity of the events that unfolded. "The suspect was able to flee the scene after police said they lost the suspect near South Zuni Street and West Bates Avenue," as reported by KDVR.
