A suspected burglar was caught and arrested yesterday after police tracked a stolen laptop in Downtown Boston. Officers from District D-4 (South End) and District A-1 (Downtown) responded to an alleged breaking and entering incident in progress on Chandler Street, where they found evidence of forced entry and disarray inside an apartment.
The victim was able to track his missing laptop using a device-locating app, leading officers to Downtown Crossing. According to the Boston Police Department's statement, detectives circulated a photo of a suspect and dispatched a description via broadcast.
Officers later apprehended 60-year-old Tyrone Saunders of Chelsea at 1 Franklin Street, who matched the suspect's description and was found with a suitcase containing the reported stolen laptop, miscellaneous jewelry, and about $140 in cash. Their investigation further revealed a folded paper bill laced with loose cocaine.
All recovered items were returned to the rightful owner. Saunders is facing multiple charges, including Breaking and Entering Daytime for Felony, Receiving Stolen Property over $1,200, and Possession of Class B, among others. It was also discovered that Saunders had two active warrants out for his arrest. He is slated for arraignment at Boston Municipal Court, as stated in the police report.
