A Ligonier woman, Amy Shipley, age 45, was discovered dead more than a week following her disappearance in Cook Township after last being seen on September 8. Her remains were found in what has been described as a makeshift grave on a property associated with the primary suspect in her death, who has been found deceased, as well. The suspect, 47-year-old Roger Angelo Jr., reportedly died by suicide overnight before the finding of Shipley's body and before charges could be officially laid against him, as confirmed in a statement reported by WPXI.

Investigations reveal Shipley, a mother and grandmother, was last seen alive near West Vincent Street in Ligonier, close to where Angelo's body was later recovered. The Westmoreland County District Attorney's Office noted Shipley is believed to have been killed in her own home, where she cohabitated with Angelo, her boyfriend at the time. The District Attorney's Office has confirmed to actively be continuing the criminal investigation, as there may yet be other people potentially to be charged in connection to this death, as reported by WTAE.

A neighbor in Cook Township stated that a site often used for burning trash had seen more activity around Shipley's disappearance, including digging. This matches reports of people digging and burning trash in the area. Surprisingly, the property owner claimed he knew nothing about these activities on his land.

Authorities are asking anyone with information about his disappearance to come forward. If you have any leads, don't hesitate to contact Westmoreland County detectives at 724-830-3287 or Ligonier police at 724-238-5105. The case is still developing as law enforcement works to understand what led to these tragic events.
