On Sunday, a routine traffic stop took an unusual turn when a constable deputy with Mark Herman's Office pulled over a driver who showed clear signs of intoxication. The driver, identified as Donia Aly, was on Northgate Crossing Boulevard at the time of the incident, which quickly escalated beyond a typical drunk driving arrest. Due to Aly's apparent impaired condition, deputies concluded that Standardized Field Sobriety Tests would not be safely administered.
While in transit to the county jail, Aly reportedly made a desperate and illegal offer to the deputy. According to a statement from Constable Mark Herman's Office's Facebook post, Aly attempted to bribe the male deputy with sexual acts, aiming to secure her release and retrieve her vehicle from impound. This ill-considered proposition has now landed her with additional charges.
Constable Herman's Office confirmed in a Facebook post that "Aly Donia was arrested and booked into the Harris County Jail, charged with Driving While Intoxicated and Bribery. Her total bond has bot been set at this time out of the 228th District Court and County Court 11."
