After Hurricane Helene, the City of Tampa partnered with Hillsborough County and the Florida Department of Emergency Management to offer essential support to residents affected by the storm. Two Comfort Stations have been set up to directly aid those who've found themselves amidst the turmoil of nature's unpredictable wrath. According to an announcement from the City of Tampa, the facilities are located at Desoto Park and Marjorie Park.
The Comfort Stations set up after Hurricane Helene provide essential relief, offering free access to food, water, ice, and the ability to charge electronic devices, which are vital for communication. In addition to these necessities, the stations offer showers, restrooms, and laundry services to help residents regain a sense of normalcy.
To speed up recovery, the city has also established a pop-up permit center at the stations to fast-track reviews and inspections for storm-related repairs.
