Following Hurricane Helene's devastating effects, the Tampa community is beginning to rebuild, showing strong support for local law enforcement. The Tampa Police Department reported that a community member made a significant donation through Rise Tampa, Our Police Foundation, to assist eleven officers and their families who lost their homes due to the storm.
According to the City of Tampa website, these officers, who remained committed to public safety despite personal losses, now face the difficult task of rebuilding. Chief Lee Bercaw stated, "Our first responders showed the true hearts of public servants as they put their own concerns aside to keep others safe," and added, "Hurricane Helene caused devastating losses throughout our community, and we are thankful for the support."
The Tampa Police Department warns those restoring their homes to be cautious of unlicensed contractors seeking to take advantage of the post-disaster situation. This warning, along with donations from Rise Tampa, emphasizes the importance of vigilance and community support.
As Tampa rebuilds, partnerships between organizations like Rise Tampa and the Tampa Police Benevolent Association showcase the city’s resilience and unity. The Tampa Police Department acknowledges the ongoing concern and support shown by residents for both their neighbors and law enforcement.
