Tampa Invites Public to Shape Future Urban Landscape with "Tampa Forward" InitiativeSource: City of Tampa

Tampa is looking to revamp the Land Development Code (LDC) through a two-year initiative titled "Tampa Forward: Building Tomorrow Together." The City of Tampa aims to reshape the code into a more user-friendly, straightforward framework, ensuring that it matches the city's growth trajectory. The LDC revisions will focus on enhancing user comprehension, integrating visual aides like photos and diagrams, refining the language for clarity, and establishing higher development standards to improve the quality of urban development,

The process seeks to engage residents in shaping the LDC's updates. As the city embarks on this transformative journey, public feedback is not just welcomed, but deemed essential. In a statement obtained by the City of Tampa's news release, Abbye Feeley, the interim administrator for Development and Economic Opportunity emphasized, "It is vital we have participation from our City of Tampa residents throughout the update of our LDC." Feeley believes that resident involvement will be pivotal in refining the LDC to reflect the evolving needs of Tampa's communities, businesses, and residential spaces.

To kickstart community participation, the City is inviting residents to take a survey and offer their insights on the current LDC and potential updates. Contributions from this survey will directly influence the LDC's refinement process. Furthermore, the City will be hosting a Public Kickoff Meeting on September 16, where residents can engage more directly with the update process.

For those interested in attending the Public Kickoff Meeting, it's scheduled from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the City Center on Hanna Avenue, with doors opening at 6:30 p.m., and refreshments to be served. There’s a virtual attendance option for those unable to make it in person. Further information, and registration for the event can be found on the city's official website.
