To improve road safety and reduce aggressive driving, the Tampa Police Department increased traffic enforcement along the Courtney Campbell Causeway during the Labor Day weekend.

Chief Lee Bercaw emphasized the department's commitment: "Our officers, whether in cars, on motorcycles, or in the air, are dedicated to ensuring the safety of our community." Tampa authorities were on high alert for street racing and reckless driving, making it clear these actions would lead to consequences. A significant uptick in traffic stops and citations was observed as a result of the operation, as reported by the City of Tampa. 

The weekend's campaign focused on both enforcing traffic rules and educating drivers. Motorists received reminders about the importance of following traffic laws and sharing the road responsibly. The goal was to both supervise and teach, promoting a culture of road safety to help prevent accidents and injuries.

According to a press release on Tampa's official government website, "The Labor Day weekend operation is just one example of their everyday commitment to reducing traffic-related incidents and ensuring our roads are safe for everyone,” stated Chief Bercaw.
