In a routine patrol turned significant apprehension, a Tarrant County Sheriff's Office deputy spotted an unusual scene in Haslet, a vehicle parked suspiciously behind a recently burglarized restaurant. The location raised concern given the establishment's history with crime and its closed status at the time prompted further investigation by the officers, according to the Tarrant County Sheriff's Office.
Approaching the vehicle revealed a man and woman inside, surrounded by items that escalated the situation from curious to criminal, including drug paraphernalia and an openly visible handgun that caught the deputies' attention, leading to a more thorough search of the vehicle which was necessary because of what they observed and the situation they were in was potentially dangerous. The search resulted in the seizure of an AR-15 rifle, high-capacity magazines, a substantial stockpile of ammunition, and illegal narcotics, all of which pointed to possession with intents that stretch beyond personal use.
The suspects were promptly arrested and now face numerous felony charges, the details of which were not immediately disclosed. Their apprehension speaks to the vigilance and proactive measures taken by the patrolling deputies in averting what might have been a more severe incident had the contents of that vehicle been employed for ill purposes.
