A juvenile was apprehended on Sunday after allegedly issuing a bomb threat against Green Mountain High School in Colorado. As reported by CBS Colorado, the threat posted anonymously on an Instagram page frequented by students from the school to air grievances, warned peers to avoid attending school on Monday "unless you wanted to die."
The Lakewood Police Department swung into action upon receiving a flurry of Safe2Tell alerts on Saturday, executing several searches at the high school that collectively determined the menace was in fact a hoax according to The Denver Post. Lakewood Police tracked down the origin of the ominous submission which was traced back to a Google Docs form the juvenile student had purportedly created.
John Romero, a spokesperson for the Lakewood Police Department, noted that the student in question attended Green Mountain High School and confirmed the details regarding the initial posting of the threat, as noted by CBS Colorado. The student's identity remains undisclosed due to their juvenile status, nevertheless, the ramifications of their actions are being scrutinized.
A collaborative effort by law enforcement including the Lakewood Police Department, Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, Adams County Sheriff’s Office, and the Colorado State Patrol ensued to comb through the premises of Green Mountain High School, after which none of them were able to substantiate the threat, as detailed by KDVR.
