According to the Metropolitan Police Department, a teenager who was the subject of an AMBER Alert has been found safe, resulting in the cancellation of the alert. The incident unfolded last night in the 1300 block of Longfellow St NW, where officers responded to reports of a confrontation. A black SUV and a gray sedan were observed with open doors and at least three suspects present. As police arrived, both vehicles left the scene, with the SUV colliding with several other vehicles, including a police cruiser.
The investigation unfolded when it was reported that a teenage girl was allegedly forced into one of the fleeing vehicles. The seriousness of the situation prompted the activation of an AMBER Alert, a system used to inform the public of child abductions. It wasn't until earlier today that detectives alongside federal law enforcement observed the teenager and a masked male emerge from a residence on the 700 block of 31st Street, Southeast, and enter a car. Following a pursuit and a minor traffic collision in the 4200 block of Southern Avenue, Southeast, the suspect fled on foot while the teenager was safely recovered, as detailed in an announcement by the Metropolitan Police Department.
The teenager was found unharmed and has since been taken to the hospital for a cautionary evaluation. Despite the initial alarming circumstances, The recovery marks a successful conclusion to this particular AMBER Alert. The Metropolitan Police Department expressed gratitude for the cooperation and assistance from their federal partners, namely the United States Marshal's Service and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, which contributed to the positive outcome.

The search for the male driver who fled the accident scene is ongoing, as police work to piece together the events leading up to the teenager's abduction and subsequent rescue.
