The shadow of a recent bloody Juneteenth festival in Round Rock lingers as a Williamson County grand jury handed down indictments to two suspects connected to a horrific shooting that left two people dead and 14 injured. CBS Austin reported that Ricky Thompson III and Keshawn Dixon face serious charges following the June 15 tragedy.
Thompson, just 17, has been indicted for first-degree felony aggravated assault mass shooting, with his next court appearance set for November 5. While his attorney, Amber Vazquez, stated in a FOX 7 Austin interview, "He maintains his innocence. I think there are going to be a lot of things that are going to come out that are going to show who was really the instigator and made this event happen."
Dixon, on the other hand, faces two murder charges and an additional 13 aggravated assault mass shooting charges, with a court date in early October, as detailed by CBS Austin.
While the two suspects are set to face the court in the coming months, the investigation continues as the community seeks answers and closure. The possible life sentence hanging over these charges underscores the gravity of the crime and its lasting impact on the families affected. As Vazquez concluded in her interview with FOX 7 Austin, "There is a lot more to the story and I think now that cases are going to be indicted, we are going to start being able to review the evidence and really see what happened."
