Authorities in Tempe are investigating after shots were fired at a Democratic Party campaign office, causing damage to the premises but fortunately not resulting in any injuries. According to FOX 10 Phoenix, the incident occurred early Monday morning near Priest Drive and Southern Avenue and has been categorized as a property crime by the Tempe Police.
The recent gunfire is not an isolated event but a disturbing pattern. Exactly a week before, discovered by the police, it appears rounds from a BB or pellet gun were shot at the same office as reported by AP News. No one was inside the office at the moment the shots were fired in either incident, raising serious concerns regarding the safety of not only those who work in that building but also the larger community surrounding it.
Sean McEnerney, the Arizona Democratic Party coordinated campaign manager, expressed relief over the fact that no one was present or hurt during these instances. "We are grateful to Tempe Police for coming quickly to the scene," he stated in a release obtained by AP News.
The motives behind the attacks are still being investigated. The police are urging anyone who might have information to come forward and contact them at 480-350-8311, as per FOX 10 Phoenix.
