Six people, including three children, were hospitalized yesterday after a collision involving a school bus and a truck in Hialeah. The incident occurred near the intersection of East 1st Avenue and 60th Street, reportedly around 2:15 p.m., when the bus, carrying Palm Springs Elementary students, collided with a dump truck. CBS Miami reported that the adults injured were airlifted to Ryder Trauma Center, whilst the children sustained minor injuries and were taken to Nicklaus Children's Hospital.

According to Hialeah Fire Rescue, as the landscape truck and the school bus crashed, running to help more than a dozen neighbors heard children screaming from the bus. Two adults ejected from the truck, one of whom became trapped under the vehicle. NBC Miami states these individuals were seriously hurt, though further details on the cause of the accident were not immediately clear.

Witnesses played a key role in the aftermath, aiding the injured until emergency services arrived. Anthony Encalada, one of the bystanders who intervened, told CBS Miami, "The wheel was by the stomach and we were trying to pull the truck back with another truck. By the time we pulled them out and then the rescue came and took them. Then there was another one who was inside the truck who stayed there for like 30 minutes."

The accident also resulted in property damage. After the collision standing in the front yard of a corner home, the mangled vehicles, a yellow school bus and a similarly damaged dump truck, could be seen with a damaged chainlink fence marking where they had come to rest. Despite the severity, no other injuries beyond those involved in the accident have been reported. Hialeah police are continuing their investigation into this distressing incident.
