Witnesses, Paul and Sue from Troy, described to WWJ Newsradio the aftermath they encountered, "There were probably at least ten police cars, and there were two cars — one of which was in the ditch and one one which was smoking," indicating the severity of the crash. Both directions of the M-14 freeway remained open, still, the eastbound entrance ramp at Gotfredson Road was shut down for ongoing investigations, a closure described to be for an "indefinite period."
