Battle Creek Police responded to reports of gunshots in the Post Addition neighborhood shortly after 1 a.m. The violent outbreak, reported by WWMT, occurred in the parking lot of the #1 Legends Club on Porter Street.
The sequence of events that came to rapidly escalate began with a fight between two women. Subsequently, an unidentified man brandished a firearm and began to recklessly discharge it, striking bystanders. "Police determined that the shooting happened after a fight between two women in the parking lot", as stated by WZZM13. Victims included a 45-year-old man shot in the back, a 28-year-old man wounded in the leg, and a 37-year-old woman also struck in the leg. They were treated for their non-life-threatening injuries at Bronson Battle Creek Hospital.
