
Early yesterday morning, an altercation in a Battle Creek bar parking lot escalated to gunfire, leaving three people injured, according to local authorities. Battle Creek Police responded to reports of gunshots in the Post Addition neighborhood shortly after 1 a.m. The violent outbreak, reported by WWMT, occurred in the parking lot of the #1 Legends Club on Porter Street.
The sequence of events that came to rapidly escalate began with a fight between two women. Subsequently, an unidentified man brandished a firearm and began to recklessly discharge it, striking bystanders. "Police determined that the shooting happened after a fight between two women in the parking lot", as stated by WZZM13. Victims included a 45-year-old man shot in the back, a 28-year-old man wounded in the leg, and a 37-year-old woman also struck in the leg. They were treated for their non-life-threatening injuries at Bronson Battle Creek Hospital.
Authorities are on the lookout for the assailant, who has been described only as an "unknown man" by the police.
