
Late Friday night when a road rage incident led to a fatal stabbing, resulting in one death and one arrest. At about 10:30 p.m., Turlock Police officers responded to reports of a stabbing on West Monte Vista Avenue. When they arrived, they found 49-year-old Enrique Gomez lying on the ground with stab wounds, according to KCRA.
Gomez's injuries were fatal, and he was pronounced dead at the scene. The initial verbal confrontation, related to road rage at a nearby apartment complex, turned into a physical fight and then the deadly stabbing. Police detectives quickly began an investigation, which, supported by evidence from the scene and eyewitness accounts, led to the identification of the suspect's vehicle.
CBS News Sacramento reports that assistance from the Modesto Police Department and the use of license plate reader technology enabled the quick location and arrest of the suspect. The accused, identified as 28-year-old Ahmad Abweny of Modesto, was taken into custody just hours after the incident and has been charged with murder. Abweny now faces the legal system's full weight, as he has been booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center. Details regarding the court proceedings for Abweny have not been made available at this time.
