Two students from El Camino Fundamental High School in Sacramento County were arrested this morning after being found with weapons on campus. At approximately 9:30 AM, school staff confronted a 14-year-old male student who was reportedly showing an object resembling a handgun, tucked in his waistband, to his peers. Another student, aged 15, was found carrying two knives. The Sacramento County Sheriff's Office responded to the situation and detained both individuals without further ado.
Upon inspection, the supposed firearm wielded by the 14-year-old was identified as an airsoft pistol, modified to look more authentic by removing the orange tip. This student was subsequently taken to Juvenile Hall, as detailed in a statement obtained by the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office. The other student, found with two pocket knives, was cited and released to the custody of his parents.
Both young individuals knew each other, but according to the Sheriff's Office, there was no evidence suggesting a collaborative effort or a plan for a violent act. Authorities are continuing their investigation into the incident, seeking to understand the motives behind the possession of these weapons in a school setting.
Investigators are encouraging anyone with information about the incident to come forward. Potential informants are advised that they can contact the Sheriff’s Office directly, or anonymously give their tips to Sacramento Valley Crime Stoppers. Incentives for information include a cash reward of up to $1000, ensuring that the tipster's identity remains confidential. Reports can be filed via phone, the "P3 TIPS" app, or online at the respective websites provided by the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office.
