Rumors of a potential shooting at Pahrump Valley High School caused a stir among residents, but authorities have now confirmed these concerns to be baseless. The Nye County Sheriff's Office, after conducting thorough investigations, has found no evidence of any substantial threat to the school's safety, according to KTNV.
In a recent sweep of social media panic, the Nye County Sheriff's Office was contacted by several individuals concerning potential threats. "We have interviewed every person that was reported as spreading this information and none of them directly heard the alleged threats," the office clarified in a statement obtained by FOX5 Vegas. This chain of hearsay resulted in identifying a juvenile as a suspect, who firmly denied making any threats against the school.
Further inquiries revealed that the information had been greatly distorted as it passed from one person to another – a dangerous game of telephone that sparked undue alarm. "Other juveniles who contacted authorities have admitted they did not hear the alleged threats directly and are only reporting what others have told them or they have seen on social media," according to a report by KTNV.
With the community on edge, the Sheriff's Office diligently combed through every lead. Not finding any direct witnesses to the alleged threats, investigators have assured the public that there is no credible threat to the security of Pahrump Valley High School.
