In a cohesive effort to foster stronger ties with the Hispanic community, police departments throughout Texas have gathered to celebrate the success of the Unidos Program. This initiative stands as a bastion of resourceful engagement catering to non-English speaking Hispanic residents. The program’s prime objective revolves around fortifying trust and nurturing relations, all while intent on maintaining the safety of local communities.
Since its inception in 2002, the Unidos Program has seen considerable expansion, now embraced by nearly 30 agencies across the state. In the words of the Garland Police Department, "The collaboration between these agencies helps us all grow and strengthen our efforts in serving our communities." The police departments availed this opportunity to share experiences and strategies, reaffirming their commitment to a continuous enhancement of service quality.
The meeting, hosting an array of law enforcement bodies, was held at the Dallas ISD Police Department. The program’s promising trajectory was acknowledged with a heartfelt appreciation extended to Dallas ISD Police for their role in fostering this initiative. This sentiment was echoed across departments, with participants elated about the ongoing and future positive impacts of the Unidos Program.
