D.C. braces for a week marked by a fluctuating dance of clouds and sunshine, according to the latest forecasts. If you've been eagerly waiting to plan your picnics or long strolls around the National Mall, you might want to keep an umbrella close at hand with showers possibly interrupting the otherwise pleasant weather.
The National Weather Service reports overcast skies today, with morning temperatures at a comfortable 69°F, expected to rise to a high of 84°F. Despite the gray start, the clouds are expected to gradually clear, allowing for some sunshine. Winds will gently blow from the east at around 7 mph, maintaining the day's calm demeanor.
Come nighttime, the skies will partly to fully unveil the stars, with low temperatures hovering around 64°F. These tranquil conditions are set to continue into the weekend, with Saturday and Sunday both looking mostly sunny. Temperatures will be slightly higher tomorrow, expected to reach up to 86°F, before dipping to lower 60s as evening falls. Then Sunday will mirror the welcoming conditions but with a slightly cooler high of 83°F.
While the start of the workweek might encourage you to slip outside quickly, be aware that chances of showers will begin to surface by Tuesday afternoon. Watch the skies as the week progresses, with a 30% chance of rain predicted for Tuesday and continuing into the night. Wednesday and Thursday also hold a 30% to 40% chance of showers, with highs lingering around 80°F. Residents should plan to occasionally dodge the rain during outdoor activities—or simply enjoy the spectacle of an impending autumn rainfall.
