The White Settlement Police Department (PD) unfurled its sails, or rather, its cardboard, in the annual "Rock the Boat" cardboard boat race, securing second place in the Siren Showdown, a lighthearted battle of buoyancy and boatmanship between police and fire department teams. The Siren Showdown, part of the day's festivities, saw the White Settlement Fire Department face off against the local PD in what could be deemed an intensely mild nautical confrontation.
The competition, though modest this year with only two contestants in the fray, is a source of community delight and departmental pride. Undoubtedly, the departments enjoyed their friendly rivalry, an embodiment of camaraderie rather than cut-throat competition.
Accolades for the PD's boat design and craftsmanship were directed at Corporal Brandon Tibbit, who took the helm in constructing the vessel that bore the department's maritime ambitions. It is a testament to resourcefulness, that a mere assembly of cardboard and tape could hold the weight of law enforcement on the rolling waves of competition, however spirituous and light-hearted those waves might be.
In the spirit of teamwork, special thanks were also given to those who took on the roles of navigators on this less-than-epic journey: Officer Payton Wyly and Detective Geovanny Ramirez, who served as the boat captains. It is these individuals, along with their behind-the-scenes crew, that stirred the cardboard ship through still waters to a place of honor just shy of first. "Thank you Corporal Brandon Tibbit for the boat design and construction. Special thanks to Officer Payton Wyly and Detective Geovanny Ramirez for serving as the boat captains", acknowledged the White Settlement Police Department.
