Edward Vincenzo Camacho, a 20-year-old from Winter Garden, has pleaded guilty in a striking case of theft where he rammed a sports utility vehicle into a federal firearms licensee business and made off with a slew of firearms. As detailed in a press release by the U.S. Attorney's Office, Camacho is staring down a hefty sentence, with a potential 10-year federal prison term looming ahead, though a sentencing date is still in the air.
Late on August 18, 2023, Camacho crashed his car into a store, broke a glass case, and stole six guns. Police quickly chased him down, and within two hours, he was seen dropping three guns, two of which were confirmed as stolen from the store.
The work of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and Winter Park Police confirmed the case. Assistant U.S. Attorney Stephanie Alexa McNeff is handling it. The incident highlights the ease with which guns can fall into the wrong hands.
