Early this morning, a man was hospitalized after being shot during what has been described as a domestic dispute at a Super 8 hotel in Katy. Harris County Sheriff's Office responded to the scene in the 22000 block of Katy Freeway at approximately 1:40 a.m., according to a report by FOX 26 Houston. The injured man received a gunshot wound to the leg and was rendered aid by deputies, who applied a tourniquet before his transport to the hospital, where he is listed in fair condition.
Deputies arrested 26-year-old Mikaela Perez, who has been charged with Aggravated Assault following the incident involving her current and former boyfriends. Her former boyfriend, Michael Jaynes, 38, was also charged with Assault for his role in the altercation and is now in custody at the Harris County Jail, as per the account provided by Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez.
In a separate statement, CW39 reported that authorities indicated the shooting may have been related to a domestic violence situation. Officials have not released further details on the relationship dynamics among those involved. The investigation is ongoing as deputies work to piece together the sequence of events that led to the shooting.
