A woman has been arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon following the shooting of a man in Southwest Houston. The incident unfolded yesterday, with police responding to reports at approximately 12:45 a.m. at 9935 Bissonnet Street, as stated in a press release from the City of Houston.
Houston Police Department officers found a 40-year-old male victim with a gunshot wound upon arrival at the scene. The Houston Fire Department paramedics were also at the scene and quickly transported the victim to an area hospital where he remains in critical condition. During their investigation, officers were able to recover evidence to swiftly and seemingly identify a female suspect.
Subsequent to the initial response, HPD officers, now involved in the investigation, were alerted to a hospital call where a woman, who came in with a head laceration, claimed she had been assaulted and confessed to shooting a man at a gas station. This woman was identified as 29-year-old Alexus Domique Bonner. According to detectives E. Ruiz and N. Aponte from HPD's Major Assaults & Family Violence Division, Bonner was hospitalized when they obtained a statement from her regarding the incident.
The investigation led to the revelation that Bonner was responsible for the violence that occurred. After consulting with the Harris County District Attorney’s Office, she was charged and booked into the Harris County Jail. "HPD patrol officers responded to a person down call near the above address and found a male with an apparent gunshot wound," HPD detectives E. Ruiz and N. Aponte, as reported by the City of Houston.
