
A Woodland woman, Helen Burton, age 39, has been arrested on suspicion of homicide in connection with the shooting death of Jonas Calhoun, 30, in Sacramento last month. The arrest came about after a thorough investigation by Sacramento detectives, with the assistance of the Sacramento Sheriff's Office Special Enforcement Detail, resulted in Burton being taken into custody on September 25, according to the Sacramento Police Department post on X.

On the evening of August 2, around 5:45 p.m., Sacramento patrol officers had responded to reports of a shooting on the 2500 block of Altos Avenue, where they found Calhoun suffering from at least one gunshot wound, he was quickly transported to a local hospital by Sacramento Fire personnel, yet despite efforts he ultimately died from his injuries. Following the incident, the area was secured for investigation, where no immediate arrests were made and details regarding potential suspects were sparse.
Based on a statement obtained by ABC10, Burton was booked into the Sacramento County jail and is currently facing charges related to the homicide. The identity of the deceased was later confirmed by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office once next of kin were notified.
