On Tuesday evening when a 13-year-old boy died after the ATV he was operating flipped, injuring two others, one critically. KSDK reports that the Missouri State Highway Patrol responded to the accident near Sandstone Trail and Camp Mo Val Road, which occurred around 6:20 p.m.
The vehicle involved was a 2023 Polaris Ranger UTV. It appears the young driver attempted a turn, which led to the overturning of the ATV, according to a statement from the highway patrol obtained by FOX 2 NOW. The vehicle was reportedly traveling northbound when the driver failed to make a left turn, causing it to overturn. The passengers, also 13-year-old boys, were found injured at the scene, with one in serious condition.
Upon the arrival of emergency services, the young driver of the UTV was pronounced dead, while one of his companions was rushed to a nearby hospital with serious injuries. The third boy sustained minor injuries. The highway patrol also noted that the driver was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident. First Alert 4 reported that the two passengers were wearing seatbelts, which may have contributed to the lesser extent of their injuries. The names of the three boys have not been released as of the latest reports.
