The quest to capture one of Texas' most elusive fugitives came to an end recently in Dallas, thanks to the collaborative efforts of law enforcement and the local community. Adiah Namir Roberson, a name that occupied a spot on Texas' 10 Most Wanted Fugitives list, was detained last Tuesday, as announced by the Texas Department of Public Safety.
Roberson, only 17 years old, found herself in handcuffs at a southeast Dallas apartment complex following a decisive Crime Stoppers tip. The apprehension was a joint initiative—coordinated by Texas Department of Public Safety Criminal Investigations Division Special Agents from the U.S. Marshals Lone Star Fugitive Task Force in San Antonio—with collaboration from their North Texas counterparts, the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office and Grand Prairie Police Department. This move concludes her fugitive status that stemmed from allegations of murder for the July 2024 fatal shooting of a drive-in restaurant manager in Bexar County. Roberson was, also wanted on charges of forging a government document.
The apprehension of Roberson checks off one more name from the notorious roster of criminals that Texas law enforcement seeks to curtail. Texas Crime Stoppers, an initiative funded by the Governor's Public Safety Office, promises cash rewards for tips leading to arrests. They have been instrumental in this year's efforts, enabling the arrest of 39 fugitives—including 14 sex offenders, 10 gang members, and four criminal illegal immigrants, with $24,000 paid in rewards for actionable intelligence, as reported by the Texas Department of Public Safety.
Informants looking to contribute to the cause of justice can tip anonymously using a trio of methods: calling the hotline at 1-800-252-TIPS (8477), submitting a web tip through the Texas Department of Public Safety website, or via a Facebook tip by hitting the "SUBMIT A TIP" button. Participating tipsters are provided with a unique tip number, ensuring their anonymity, and perhaps, the satisfaction of making their community a safer place.
Texas Department of Public Safety investigators, in collaboration with local law enforcement agencies, are selective in curating the Texas 10 Most Wanted Fugitives, Sex Offenders, and Criminal Illegal Immigrants Lists. These lists, which can include photos, are publicly accessible on the Texas Department of Public Safety website. Community members are warned, however, not to attempt the apprehension of these individuals on their own, as they are considered armed and dangerous.
