A suspect has been taken into custody by the Metropolitan Police Department in connection with a shooting incident on 50th Street NE. The shooting, which took place late in the evening on July 21, resulted in one individual sustaining injuries after being shot.
Officials have reported that the suspect, identified as 19-year-old Ronald Brewer from Northeast, D.C., allegedly approached the victim around 9:23 p.m. on that Sunday night. The assailant reportedly opened fire and then proceeded to quickly flee the scene. The victim, whose name has not been disclosed, was promptly taken to a local hospital and is expected to recover from the non-life-threatening injuries sustained.
Following an investigation, Brewer was arrested yesterday. According to the official MPD press release, he has been charged with Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Gun). The circumstances that led to the shooting or a possible motive have not yet been made public.
