A 19-year-old motorcyclist was killed in a crash in Palm Harbor after his bike collided with a van on Thursday evening. According to WFLA, the teen was traveling north on US-19 around 7:40 p.m. when the incident occurred at the intersection of Highlands Boulevard.

The Florida Highway Patrol reported that a motorcyclist from Holiday was riding a Honda CBR sportbike when he collided with a Chrysler Pacifica van. The 85-year-old man from Palm Harbor driving the van turned left in front of the motorcycle, leading to the crash. The teen, riding through the intersection, was taken to a nearby hospital but unfortunately died from his injuries.

The van's driver, an elderly local, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and is expected to recover. This crash points out the risks of collisions between vehicles and motorcycles and raises concerns about road safety for both vulnerable riders and older drivers, as stated by WTSP.

While details about the crash are still emerging, the Florida Highway Patrol has informed the public that an investigation is currently underway. As reported by Tampa Free Press, they have not disclosed further information. Depending on what the investigation reveals, charges could be pending against the driver of the van.
