
A 23-year-old woman was left in critical condition after a hit-and-run incident near San Joaquin Delta College in Stockton. The collision occurred on Thursday evening at the intersection of Pacific and West Yokuts avenues, as reported by CBS News Sacramento.
According to the Stockton Police Department, the woman was walking near the sidewalk in front of the Delta College sign when she was struck by a Tesla. The driver of the Tesla, a 27-year-old man, fled the scene but was later detained by college police and hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries, as per, ABC 10. The southbound lanes of Pacific Avenue were expected to be shut down for several hours following the incident.
Police responded to the scene around 6:30 p.m. after receiving reports of the collision. The woman was immediately transported to the hospital and is currently in critical condition. The suspect vehicle was found nearby, and the driver was taken into custody before being taken to the hospital with injuries that were deemed not life-threatening, as per ABC 10. Further details are yet to emerge as the investigation continues, the police have not yet released the names of either the victim or the suspect in the accident.
