
A tragic incident occurred in Donegal Township, Washington County, last night when a 23-year-old woman lost her life after her motorcycle was struck by another vehicle. According to WTAE, The victim, identified as Alyssa Hutchison of Washington, was involved in the crash a little before 8 p.m. on Route 40.
The circumstances that led to the fatal collision remain under investigation. According to the Washington County Coroner's Office, the crash happened just shy of 7:45 pm. Alyssa Hutchison was swiftly transported to UPMC Washington Hospital by emergency services, where she was subsequently pronounced dead, as reported by CBS News Pittsburgh.
Hutchison was confirmed to have been wearing a helmet at the time of the incident, a detail provided by the coroner's statement. This fact underscores the tragic nature of the accident and raises questions about road safety and motorcycle awareness.
The ongoing investigation into the crash is spearheaded by the Donegal Police Department and supported by multiple agencies, including Ambulance and Chair EMS and the Claysville and West Alexander fire departments.
