An early morning collision in Milwaukee has resulted in a fatality. According to FOX6 News, a 35-year-old driver died after their vehicle struck a light pole and then a tree at approximately 1:50 a.m. today. The incident occurred at the intersection of Walnut and Fond du Lac.
The Milwaukee Police Department is currently investigating the factors that led to the crash. According to reports from CBS58, the driver was traveling westbound on Fond du Lac Avenue when the vehicle veered off the road, colliding with nearby fixtures. In the midst of the wreckage, the driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
Emergency responders arrived quickly after the accident, but their attempts to save the victim were unsuccessful. As is typical in such situations, the road was temporarily closed to enable investigators to thoroughly reconstruct the events leading up to the accident. WISN noted that the investigation is ongoing and there has been no mention of any other vehicles involved in the crash.
The identity of the deceased has not been shared with the public, pending notification of kin. The Milwaukee Police Department has not yet confirmed if factors such as speed, vehicle malfunction, or driver impairment were at play in this deadly incident.
