
An incident has unfolded in Dodge County where an 87-year-old man was killed following a vehicular crash. According to authorities, the accident happened on Sunday at around 4:10 p.m. at the intersection of County Road I and County Road GI in the town of Lowell. TMJ4 reports that the driver, a 56-year-old Reeseville man named Gregory Moritz, lost control of his Chevrolet Silverado after failing to adhere to a stop sign, leading to the truck spinning and striking a ditch before coming to rest overturned multiple times near County Road I.
Following the crash, Moritz was arrested on charges that include his sixth offense of operating while intoxicated, as stated by FOX6 News. The passenger, Ralph Finkler, an elderly man from rural Reeseville, was evacuated to UW Hospital in Madison by UW Med Flight, arriving with serious injuries from which he later succumbed.
Alcohol and speed are believed to be contributing factors in this deadly incident. CBS58 obtained from Dodge County officials that neither occupant was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident. In addition to the charges of operating while intoxicated, Moritz is also facing accusations of homicide by intoxicated use of a motor vehicle.
