An unsettling incident unfolded in Akron when a Lyft driver was taken into custody, accused of kidnapping a passenger's child. According to the Akron Police, 52-year-old Steven Moore was arrested last Friday after an altercation with the mother of the nearly two-year-old girl during their ride. As reported by WKYC, the incident began when Moore stopped the car, and the mother stepped out; allegedly, he then drove off with the child still strapped in the back seat.
The mother, a 25-year-old woman, quickly contacted authorities concerning the matter. Officials said that while the investigation was ongoing at the intersection of Arlington Street and Triplett Boulevard, the driver made his way to a fire station on E. Archwood Avenue with the child. Upon receiving this information, officers hastened to the location, as per FOX8. There, they found the child safe and unharmed.
Following the recovery of the child, Moore was arrested at the firehouse without resistance. He now faces charges that include kidnapping and possession of drug paraphernalia after law enforcement found what they identified as a drug instrument within the vehicle.
