Akron Police Department has launched an investigation into a fatal shooting that took place on Friday night. Officers responded to the 1100 block of Keys Place around 10:25 p.m., where they discovered a 25-year-old man deceased from apparent gunshot wounds in a nearby apartment. As reported by WKYC, police have not released further details on the victim's identity as the investigation is ongoing.
The incident also resulted in damage to the surrounding area, with bullet holes found in two unoccupied vehicles and another apartment. News5Cleveland included that a 20-year-old woman was arrested on the scene for obstructing justice and misconduct at an emergency after she repeatedly interfered with first responders and medical personnel. However, she has not been named as a suspect in the shooting itself.
No suspects have yet been arrested in connection with the actual shooting as the search for answers continues.
