Akron, Ohio, saw a disturbance on Monday evening culminating in a shooting that left a 24-year-old woman injured and a 21-year-old man, Izaiah Dudley, in custody, facing serious charges. The Akron Police Department responded to the incident after high-alert calls around 6 p.m. to Rosalind Court. FOX8 News reports the woman sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was quickly transported to Cleveland Clinic Akron General Medical Center.
Dudley was apprehended, and two handguns, one of which was reportedly used in the shooting, were found in a vehicle connected to him and charged with felonious assault and receiving stolen property, as accounted by Cleveland19. The police stated that, after fleeing the scene in a car, shots were fired from it during the escape.
Further complicating matters, a press release from the Akron Police Department disclosed that the altercation involved multiple individuals before the gunfire. While the identity of the wounded woman has not been released, investigators are actively piecing together the sequence of events.
