Last year's fatal stabbing case at 1320 Federal Road has come closer to closure as all three suspects tied to the May 4, 2023, incident have now been charged. One of the suspects, 18-year-old Jason Urbina, faces murder charges in the 232nd State District Court, with his booking photo released by authorities. According to a news release cited by the City of Houston, two other male suspects, both minors at the time, were also implicated in the crime.
The victim of the tragic event, 34-year-old Sean Martinez, was found unresponsive in a parking lot and later pronounced dead due to a stab wound. In the aftermath of the event, HPD Homicide Division Detectives K. Heaverlo, M. Barrow, and J. Caten quickly began to piece together the harrowing puzzle, which ultimately led to identify and charge those involved. Urbina was apprehended and charged in December 2023, and since then, efforts have continued to bring all responsible persons to justice.
While the identity of juvenile suspects remains protected under the law, it is known that the second suspect, who was 16 years old at the time of the crime, was arrested and faced charges on July 15. The third suspect's apprehension, who was 15 at the time of the offense, was announced yesterday, bringing a significant development in the case less than six months after the second arrest.
"HPD patrol officers responded to a call for assistance from Houston Fire Department personnel regarding an unresponsive male found lying in a parking lot at the above address," detailed the authorities. Efforts to immediately provide medical assistance were to no avail, with HFD arriving and pronounced Mr. Martinez deceased. Initial inquiry at the scene suggested that Martinez had been attacked by three male suspects, corroborated by evidence that would soon lead to capture and to steadily charge each of the individuals implicated, as detailed by the City of Houston.
