
Authorities have arrested a Michigan man on multiple charges related to the possession of child sexually abusive material. Kevin Kowalsky, 40, from Alpena, was taken into custody following an investigation that commenced with a tip to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, as reported by ClickOnDetroit.
According to the details released, the Michigan State Police (MSP) Alpena Post began to relentlessly pursue the case 2 months ago, leading to the discovery of several videos and photographs of child sexually abusive material through Kowalsky's Google accounts. UpNorthLive reports that the troopers then executed a search and arrest warrant at Kowalsky's residence on Thursday, October 17, apprehending him without incident.
Kowalsky now faces a nine-count felony warrant, with his charges detailed by SooLeader to include six counts of Child Sexually Abusive Material (Possession), one count of Child Sexually Abusive Material (Aggravated Possession), and two counts of Use of Computer to Commit a Crime. Furthermore, during his arraignment in the 88th District Court of Alpena on October 18, Kowalsky was issued a $100,000 cash surety bond.
The investigation involved coordination with several MSP divisions, utilizing resources such as the Traverse City Computer Crimes Unit, the Seventh District MSP Emergency Support Team, the MSP K9 Unit, and detectives from the Huron Undercover Narcotics Team. Kowalsky is scheduled to quickly make his next court appearance on October 23 at 1:45 p.m., as per the details from the official reports.
