Alpharetta's Wire and Wood Music Festival is gearing up to bring a weekend of live music to Downtown Alpharetta, prompting road closures that include a portion of State Route 9. According to an announcement on the city's official website, drivers should expect detours and are advised to avoid the festival area to prevent getting caught in the inevitable congestion.
The closures start tomorrow, with North Broad St. shutting down from 5 a.m. to 6 p.m. Disruptions will continue through the weekend, affecting Milton Ave., Roswell/Canton St., Old Roswell St., Commerce St., N. Broad St., Market St., and parts of Hwy 9. The city has detailed the planned roadblocks and their timings on the official Alpharetta government website, with some roads closing as early as Friday at 5 a.m. and not reopening until Sunday at 4 a.m.
On-street parking along the affected roads will be unavailable from 6:00 a.m. on Friday until 4:00 a.m. on Sunday. Any vehicles left on the streets during this period are subject to ticketing or towing at the owner's expense. However, attendees can use several city-designated parking facilities, including the Milton Ave parking deck, Roswell Street lot, Old Roswell Street lot, City Hall parking deck, and the Alpharetta Community Center.
The festival isn't just a draw for music lovers; it also poses a logistical challenge for downtown businesses and regular commuters. Organizers have made an effort to communicate parking alternatives and road closures well in advance, aiming to minimize disruptions. Those planning to join the festivities or simply needing to traverse downtown will find performance schedules and parking information on the festival's website, ensuring that attendees and passersby can coordinate their weekend plans.
