An Arizona man, identified as 24-year-old Daniel Ashpes, faces charges after allegedly making online threats targeted at Donald Trump Jr. and conservative activist Charlie Kirk. The threats surfaced in response to a mass text message calling for RSVPs to a Turning Point rally held at a Tempe hotel. Ashpes was arrested by the Tempe Police Department last Thursday, FOX 10 Phoenix reports.

Following an investigation led by TPD's Threat Mitigation Unit, a probable cause for Ashpes' arrest was quickly established. During an interview with detectives, Ashpes confirmed that he has indeed sent the intimidating messages. He is currently accused of threatening to cause physical injury and using a phone to threaten or intimidate, as per details disclosed by the mentioned police department.

In addition to these developments, the Tempe Union High School District, where Ashpes is employed, has placed him on administrative leave amidst the ongoing investigation. "Mr. Daniel Ashpes is a Tempe Union High School District employee. He has been placed on administrative leave as authorities investigate the situation at hand. While we cannot comment on the specifics of the situation, we are aware that Tempe PD has filed charges related to alleged online threats. TUHSD does not tolerate or condone any form of threats or harassment made by employees or students," the school district conveyed in a statement to 12 News.

The incident occurred while Trump Jr. was in the Valley for a political rally last week, and as a result, Ashpes is now facing misdemeanor charges.
